Bath County is 1-9 against Raceland since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wildcats will face off against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Raceland will be up against a hot Bath County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Wildcats' way against Dayton on Saturday as they made off with a 14-2 win.
Carson Coyle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Coyle was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Zane McCarty was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Carpenter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Raceland never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Fleming County. Considering the Rams have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Brigham Davidson's shutout, as he gave up just three hits.
On the hitting side, Raceland got a big performance out of Aidan Shaffer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Landon Bloss, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Raceland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fleming County only posted an OBP of .217.
Raceland is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Bath County, their record now sits at 16-13-1.
Bath County couldn't quite finish off Raceland when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
