Football Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Northwest Whitfield

Northwest Whitfield entered their tilt with Gilmer on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over the Bobcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bruins also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

It was another big night for Gavin Nuckolls, who threw for 340 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 108 yards and one TD on only six carries. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Northwest Whitfield's leading receiver Kade Mitchell was Nuckolls' top target yet again, picking up 178 receiving yards and three scores.

Although Gilmer took the loss, they still got scores from AJ Callihan, Douglas Calliahn, Peyton Chancey, and Cheyne Smith.

Northwest Whitfield's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Gilmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coincidentally, Northwest Whitfield and Gilmer will both be playing Heritage the next time they take the field. The Bruins will host the Generals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bobcats will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd.
