Softball Recap: Beekmantown's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Beekmantown dropped their record down to 8-5 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saranac Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-6 back in April.

Lillian Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison Fessette made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Saranac, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

On Saranac's side, Irelyn Ryan was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Ryan was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Wells, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Layla Pellerin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Coincidentally, Beekmantown and Saranac will both be playing Plattsburgh the next time they take the field. The Spartans will host the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Eagles will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
