Recap: Galena Pirates vs. Warren Warriors
The Galena Pirates entered their tilt with the Warren Warriors with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Galena took down Warren 60-43 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Galena, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Galena's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Hauber led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals. Hauber hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Connor Glasgow was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Warren had strong showings from Treyton Pafford, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, and Bryce VanRaalte, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 34.9% of Warren's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Galena is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Warren, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galena will face off against West Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Carroll will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 750th, while Galena is ranked 296th). As for Warren, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against River Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on February 10th. Hopefully River Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
