Softball Game Preview: Northpoint Christian Trojans vs. First Assembly Christian Crusaders

Northpoint Christian is a perfect 7-0 against First Assembly Christian since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northpoint Christian has six straight wins, First Assembly Christian has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Northpoint Christian got the win against St. George's by a conclusive 15-1. Considering the Trojans have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Trinity Garvin made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Myrick, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Morgan Bennett, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Northpoint Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, First Assembly Christian lost 22-1 to Fayette Academy on Friday.

First Assembly Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Northpoint Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.

Northpoint Christian took their win against First Assembly Christian in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 23-0 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
