Volleyball Recap: Nikiski Has No Trouble Against Barrow

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Nikiski had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Barrow Whalers. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Whalers, too.

While Nikiski won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-15, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Ashlynne Playle and Alexa Iyatunguk, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Avery Ellis and her 16 assists. Evelyn Reichert controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Nikiski's victory bumped their record up to 37-19-7. As for Barrow, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-26-2.

Nikiski wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Sitka on the 15th. Barrow does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
