Volleyball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

Southwest lost against Medina Valley back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dragons lost 3-0 to the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Dragons have suffered against the Panthers since October 5, 2021.

Southwest took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-17, 27-25.

Deborah Alele paced Southwest's offense, picking up 11 kills. Alele got some help from Amiah Gonzales and her 15 assists.

Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Medina Valley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-4.

Southwest has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Cedar Ridge on the 21st. As for Medina Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against East Central on the 21st.
