Softball Recap: Mission Bay Buccaneers vs. Clairemont Chieftains
Mission Bay kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Clairemont Chieftains, falling 7-0. The Buccaneers haven't had much luck with the Chieftains recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Abby Nelson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Mission Bay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evie Horton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Coincidentally, Mission Bay and Clairemont will both be playing Sage Creek the next time they take the field. Clairemont will head out to face Sage Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Mission Bay will host them at 3:00 p.m. on March 1st.
