Basketball Recap: Gilbert Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Marlborough came into Monday's matchup looking for another win against Gilbert, but Ava Thompson wouldn't allow it. The Tigers claimed a resounding 64-24 victory over the Mustangs thanks in part to Thompson, who went 6-for-13 on her way to 14 points along with six boards and three steals. She is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played.

Contessa Ivy was another key player, putting up 11 points and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Gilbert's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when she doesn't).

Gilbert moved to 5-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Marlborough, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
