Baseball Recap: Jefferson County North Takes a Loss

Jefferson County North dropped their record down to 5-20-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Atchison County Tigers, falling 12-6. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 11-0.

Brody VanDyke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Wyatt Burk also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Atchison County, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-16. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

On Atchison County's side, the team relied heavily on Adrian Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Diaz has become a key player for the Tigers: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Riley Kesinger, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As of now, neither Jefferson County North nor Atchison County have any future games scheduled.
