Baseball Recap: Kennett Gets the Win

While Kennett didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Plymouth Bobcats 7-5. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Bowen Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Serghio Espezua was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Robertson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Kennett is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Plymouth, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Kennett will head out to challenge Oyster River at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Plymouth, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lebanon at 4:00 p.m. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.8 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
