            Softball Recap: Petersburg Buffaloes vs. Borden County Coyotes        
        
		
        
        
            Petersburg couldn't beat Borden County  on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Buffaloes came up short against  the Coyotes, falling  20-8. The  loss   continues a  trend for the Buffaloes in their meetings with the Coyotes: they've now lost seven in a row.
 M Trevino was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she  pitched two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. What's more,  she gave up only one  walk, the fewest she's  had since back in March. She was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run. She has been hot recently, having  posted  at least one  stolen base the last four times she's  played.

 In other batting news,  KYNLEE OVALLE made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with two  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base. She is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last five games she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  E Rendon, who  went 1-for-4 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.
Petersburg's record now sits at 6-13. As for Borden County, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record  this season.
While Petersburg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
