Baseball Recap: Wauconda Sets Scoring Season-High Against Round Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wauconda). They blew past the Round Lake Panthers 24-7 on Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Nick Churak looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Ryan Fostiak was incredible, getting on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Wauconda: the team is 9-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Rudolph, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Wauconda, bringing their record up to 16-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Round Lake, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-18.

Looking ahead, Wauconda will venture away from home to challenge Grayslake Central at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Round Lake, they will welcome Richmond-Burton at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
