Basketball Recap: Niles North Takes a Loss

Niles North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 42-29 to the Maine East Blue Demons. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Demons from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Maine East found their leader in sophomore Arabella Silva, who went 11 for 26 on her way to 24 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Silva's evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shalini Patel, who posted nine points.

Niles North's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Maine East, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Niles North will take on Vernon Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Vernon Hills will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Niles North surely won't give up without a fight. As for Maine East, they will face off against Lincoln Park at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
