Basketball Recap: Nova Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cooper City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nova). They breezed by the Cooper City Cowboys to the tune of 87-16 on Tuesday. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Nova's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tamiyah Bedford, who posted 12 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Bedford has posted since back in December of 2023. Nayeli Firmin was another key player, putting up 16 points and three steals.

Nova smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Nova has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Cooper City, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nova will head out to face off against Miami Country Day at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Nova knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Miami Country Day likes a good challenge. Cooper City has already played their next matchup (against Western), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
