Softball Recap: Templeton Beats Coalinga for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Templeton extended their winning streak to six on Monday, bumping their season record up to 12-6 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Coalinga Horned Toads. Five seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Tegan Jay tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grace Morris was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jessie Branch was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

As for Coalinga, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs.

On Coalinga's side, Chloe Sandoval made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Templeton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-1 win against San Luis Obispo on the 22nd. As for Coalinga, they have also already played their next contest, an 18-0 victory against Tranquillity on the 22nd.
