Basketball Recap: Bourgeois Takes a Loss

Bourgeois fought the good fight in their overtime game against Destrehan on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Destrehan Wildcats by a score of 43-40. The Braves haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Bourgeois lost, don't look at Jakharia Johnson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Johnson has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cenae Celestine, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Bourgeois' defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Destrehan, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season.

Looking ahead, Bourgeois will head out on the road to face off against Thibodaux at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bourgeois is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season. As for Destrehan, they will host Southern Lab at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
