Softball Game Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. Hebron Hawks

The Griffith Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Hebron Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Griffith is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Griffith's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Whiting 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cheyanne Fant made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brylie Bridges, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addie Kubaszak, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, Hebron came up short against Morgan Township on Saturday and fell 8-4.

Bailey Dilbeck was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Macey Siminski was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Griffith's record is now 13-5. As for Hebron, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Griffith suffered a grim 11-5 defeat to Hebron in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
