Softball Recap: Superior's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 11

Superior waltzed into their match on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Mogollon Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lessenia Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Superior let Lilliana Fritz and Stephanie Lopez run wild. Fritz got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Lopez went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Lopez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadynce Toner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Superior hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive games.

Superior pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mogollon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Superior beat the Mustangs by a score of 11-4 later that day.
