The Walton-Verona Bearcats will host the Bishop Brossart Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Walton-Verona is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Walton-Verona is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Paul Laurence Dunbar on Thursday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 9-2. The Bearcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Walton-Verona saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Kerns, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Kerns also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Brossart). They put the hurt on St. Henry with a sharp 10-4 victory on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Aidan Schultz, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Ben Doyle was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Bishop Brossart now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Walton-Verona, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Walton-Verona skirted past Bishop Brossart 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will Walton-Verona repeat their success, or does Bishop Brossart has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
