Baseball Recap: Monterey Takes a Loss

Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They lost 17-6 to the Avoyelles Charter Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 last Tuesday.

Blake Barfoot was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Brayden Atkins was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Avoyelles Charter, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8.

Looking ahead, Monterey will take on Vidalia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Avoyelles Charter, they will face off against Bunkie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
