The Thornton Academy Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Scarborough Red Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Thornton Academy 2.1, Scarborough 0.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Thornton Academy will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Noble on Wednesday. The Trojans skirted past the Knights 10-9.
Jacob Fish made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Ben Indorf tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Cam Cyr and Colton Cross did most of the damage at the plate: Cyr went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Cross went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three runs gave Cyr a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brennan Tabor, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Scarborough strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Biddeford.
Scarborough saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kam Duggan, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Scarborough's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Thornton Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 9-1-1 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thornton Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Scarborough struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Thornton Academy suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Scarborough when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
