Softball Recap: Whitko Wins Going Away Against Northfield

Whitko won the last time they faced Northfield and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wildcats blew past the Norsemen 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Addie Garr and Cassidy Skinner made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Garr didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Skinner pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Garr has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Garr went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Skinner went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Skinner has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Kaylee Adkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophie Keener, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Whitko always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northfield only posted an OBP of .207.

Whitko is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northfield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Coming up, Whitko will square off against Fort Wayne Wayne at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Northfield, they will take on Bluffton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
