Softball Game Preview: Notre Dame Academy Eagles vs. University Liggett Knights

The Notre Dame Academy Eagles will head out to challenge the University Liggett Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University Liggett took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Notre Dame Academy, who comes in off a win.

Notre Dame Academy took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Central Catholic, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles won by a run and slipped past the Fighting Irish 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Payton Shively was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Layla Smidi was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, University Liggett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Lutheran North, falling 12-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

University Liggett saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Maxwell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Constantina Bournias also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Notre Dame Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for University Liggett, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
