Baseball Recap: Central Valley Comes Up Short

Central Valley managed to slip by Yreka the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Falcons lost 18-12 to the Miners on Thursday.

Roman Hughes made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Central Valley is 2-1 when Hughes posts two or more runs, but 10-11-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Spencer Olson, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Central Valley dropped their record down to 12-12-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Yreka, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-19-1 record this season.

Central Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Yreka, they will head out to face off against Lassen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Miners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season.
