Volleyball Recap: Lincolnton's Undefeated Season over After Three Games + How To Watch

After flying high against Bessemer City on Tuesday, Lincolnton came back down to earth. The Wolves took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cherryville Ironmen on Thursday. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Ironmen recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Lincolnton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 29-27.

Kaylen Bryant paced Lincolnton's offense, picking up 19 kills. Bryant got some help from Kathryn Parker and her 31 assists. Finally, Bryant was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high seven blocks.

Cherryville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camryn Shirley, who had seven digs and four aces. Shirley is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Taylor Hudson was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lincolnton fell to 2-1. As for Cherryville, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincolnton will head out to challenge North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cherryville, they will venture away from home to take on East Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
