Baseball Game Preview: Bucklin Red Aces vs. Spearville Lancers

The Bucklin Red Aces will face off against the Spearville Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bucklin has six straight victories, Spearville has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Bucklin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Satanta on Monday as they made off with a 17-2 win. The Red Aces might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 14 runs or more this season.

JT Prusa was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucas Kirk, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Bucklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Spearville came up short against Holcomb on Monday, falling 12-2. The matchup marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Bucklin's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Spearville, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Bucklin skirted past Spearville 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Red Aces have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
