Softball Recap: Spring Hill Takes a Loss

Spring Hill had lost seven straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it eight. They came up short against the Lincoln County Falcons, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 back in March.

Spring Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Yayah, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lincoln County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-13-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

On Lincoln County's side, Kya Edwards made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Edwards has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Lincoln County let Anna Owens and Brinley Moran run wild. Owens went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI, while Moran went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave Moran a new career-high. Emily Robinson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Coming up, Spring Hill will take on Shelbyville Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.07 runs per game on average), something the Raiders will no doubt try to take advantage of. Lincoln County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
