Basketball Game Preview: Madison Mohawks vs. Brookville Blue Devils

The Madison Mohawks will head out to challenge the Brookville Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses dating back to last season for Madison and five for Brookville dating back to last season.

Madison is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Oakwood on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Madison lost 76-54 to Oakwood. The Mohawks were down 59-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Madison's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Grady Combs, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, and Kaleb Miller, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points. Those 16 points gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocky Milsap, who posted nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Madison smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Brookville didn't have quite enough to beat Ross on Saturday and fell 52-49.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Brookville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Madison ended up a good deal behind Brookville when the teams last played back in January, losing 67-48. Thankfully for Madison, Jace Wood (who went 9 of 16 on his way to 23 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
