Softball Game Preview: Pierson/Bridgehampton Whalers vs. Center Moriches Red Devils

Pierson/Bridgehampton is 0-10 against Center Moriches since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Whalers are taking a road trip to challenge the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Pierson/Bridgehampton has given up an average of 18.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pierson/Bridgehampton is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They came up short against John Glenn, falling 18-0.

Meanwhile, Center Moriches beat John Glenn 16-13 on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Joc Juers, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Ella Cerillo, who went 5-for-6 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Center Moriches' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for Pierson/Bridgehampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Pierson/Bridgehampton suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Center Moriches in their previous meeting on April 1st. Can the Whalers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
