Recap: Muleshoe Mules vs. Bovina Mustangs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Texico, the Muleshoe Mules were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Bovina by a score of 56-48. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but Muleshoe was the better team in the second half.
Sebastian Kirven continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Muleshoe's points. Another player making a difference was Adam Alarcon, who scored nine points along with six assists.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miguel Lopez, who scored 14 points. Lopez scored a full 29.2% of Bovina's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Gabriel Nieto was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Muleshoe's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Bovina, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Muleshoe will be home for the holidays to greet Morton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Bovina will be home for the holidays to greet Claude at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
