Basketball Game Preview: Wakeland Wolverines vs. Newman Smith Trojans

The Wakeland Wolverines will square off against the Newman Smith Trojans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wakeland is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering The Colony just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 59-47 to the Cougars.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newman Smith). They blew past Turner 73-46 on Friday. The score was close at the half, but the Trojans pulled away in the second half with 44 points.

Newman Smith's victory bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Wakeland, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9.

Wakeland beat Newman Smith 57-46 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Wakeland repeat their success, or does Newman Smith have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
