Softball Recap: Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars vs. New Fairfield Rebels

Kolbe-Cathedral had lost seven straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-14 to make it eight. They lost 21-6 to the New Fairfield Rebels. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Samantha Galarza and Mi'Yah Bostic stepped up to the plate in a big way. Galarza went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Bostic went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyanna Aristy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

As for New Fairfield, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-10. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On New Fairfield's side, Sarah Ottusch made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Ottusch has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
