JW North and Arlington are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Huskies will host the Lions at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. JW North is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
JW North barely beat Canyon Springs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Huskies put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 12-6 victory on Thursday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Natalie Munoz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, JW North let Lily Hiraoka and Xochitl Frias run wild. Hiraoka went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Frias went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs Frias has posted since back in March. Audrina Camacho was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run and five RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: JW North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Arlington owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against Hillcrest by a score of 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Hillcrest's batters probably weren't too happy with Itzel Hernandez, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Arlington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Cortez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another was Ryleigh Pliego, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
Arlington pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for JW North, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.
Both JW North and Arlington just can't seem to miss. The Huskies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
JW North came up short against Arlington in their previous meeting on April 10th, falling 4-0. Will the Huskies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
