Basketball Recap: Paw Paw Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Paw Paw had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. The contest between them and the Windber Ramblers didn't end well, with the Paw Paw Pirates falling 69-53.

Paw Paw's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor Carder and Donavan Tanouye. Carder went 13 for 29 on his way to 27 points, while Tanouye went 9 of 19 on his way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Tanouye's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan D, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Windber's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paw Paw will square off against Paden City at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Windber, they will head out to face off against Rockwood at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
