Basketball Game Preview: Elk Mound Mounders vs. Altoona Railroaders

The Elk Mound Mounders and the Altoona Railroaders will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Elk Mound didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Colfax, but they still walked away with a 55-49 win. Given the Mounders' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Vikings are ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Altoona came up short against McDonell Central on Saturday and fell 65-55.

Elk Mound's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Altoona, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
