Softball Recap: Apex Friendship Gets the Win

Apex Friendship hadn't done well against D.H. Conley recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Apex Friendship Patriots walked away with a 6-2 victory over the D.H. Conley Vikings. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered an 8-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sydney Joyce made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, India Matute was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Cheyenne Christman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Apex Friendship and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for D.H. Conley, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, Apex Friendship will face off against Holly Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The game will give Holly Springs their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for D.H. Conley, they are taking a road trip to square off against South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. D.H. Conley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so South Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
