Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lone Tree). They came out on top against the Monticello Panthers by a score of 14-11 on Saturday. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered an 8-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lone Tree has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Monticello, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Lone Tree has already played their next contest, a 15-4 victory against Hillcrest Academy on the 10th. As for Monticello, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-9 defeat against West Branch on the 9th.
