Basketball Recap: Phoenix Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oswego, Phoenix was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 50-49 win over the Cortland Purple Tigers. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Firebirds as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Several Purple Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cal Albright, who posted 12 points. Owen Johnson was another key player, shooting 56% from the field on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Phoenix's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Cortland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix will welcome Syracuse Academy of Science at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cortland, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Oswego at 1:00 p.m.
