Baseball Recap: Poughkeepsie Takes a Loss

Poughkeepsie extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 17-3 to the Haldane Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pioneers of the 5-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Haldane, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 2-6 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Haldane's part, Milo Pearsall was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Pearsall was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leo Lanza, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln McCarthy, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Poughkeepsie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Haldane, they will face off against Millbrook at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
