Baseball Recap: Dumont Extends Winning Streak to Three

Dumont had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Dwight Morrow on Monday. The Huskies blew past the Maroon Raiders 13-5. The win was familiar territory for the Huskies, who have now won three matches in a row.

Dumont got a great performance from Joey Sutera as he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Sutera has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eric Orso was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Sobek, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Dumont's victory bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Dwight Morrow, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Dumont is taking a road trip to take on Cresskill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dwight Morrow will be paying especially close attention to the Huskies' contest: after the Huskies face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Dwight Morrow again at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
