Baseball Game Preview: Aquinas Academy Crusaders vs. Union Area Scotties

For the second straight game, Aquinas Academy will face off against Union Area. The Crusaders will face off against the Scotties at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Aquinas Academy has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 27.

Aquinas Academy came up short against Union Area on Tuesday, falling 8-1.

For Union Area's part, Logan Staph spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cole Harper, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Union Area's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Swayze Reighert, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Union Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aquinas Academy only managed four hits.

Aquinas Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Union Area, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
