Cathedral barely beat McCutcheon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fighting Irish put the hurt on the Mavericks with a sharp 9-1 win on Wednesday. Considering the Fighting Irish have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ellis Land was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sydney Matthews, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Cathedral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCutcheon only posted an OBP of .154.

Cathedral pushed their record up to 19-4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for McCutcheon, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.

Cathedral wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-2 victory against Ben Davis on the 14th. As for McCutcheon, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-0 win against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 14th.
