Softball Recap: Brighton Takes a Loss

Brighton extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-7. They fell 5-2 to the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets. The Bruins were not able to make up for their defeat to the Royal Comets from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Rush-Henrietta, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Rush-Henrietta's part, Kendall Buttles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. Buttles has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lizzie Rinella, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Addison Wielgosz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brighton will welcome Webster Schroeder at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rush-Henrietta, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Spencerport at 5:00 p.m.
