South Bend Riley suffers 14th straight loss on the road

Recap: South Bend Riley Wildcats vs. East Chicago Central Cardinals

The South Bend Riley Wildcats were the 36-28 winner over the East Chicago Central Cardinals when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. South Bend Riley took a 34-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Chicago Central.

South Bend Riley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Serenity Farmer, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tory Harmon, who scored eight points.

South Bend Riley's loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.0 points per game. As for East Chicago Central, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8.

South Bend Riley is on the road again on Friday and play against Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Elkhart presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South Bend Riley in Indiana (Elkhart is ranked 126th, while South Bend Riley is ranked 389th). East Chicago Central will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Portage at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
