Softball Recap: Eagan Wildcats vs. Shakopee Sabers
Eagan had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 8-13 to make it seven. They fell 4-0 to the Shakopee Sabers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Sabers this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-9 defeat back in April.
As for Shakopee, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games.
For Shakopee's part, the result came thanks to Madison Fonder's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. Fonder has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Briana Kirkland, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Maddie Brady also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
