Baseball Recap: Luray Has No Trouble Against Clarke County

Luray had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Clarke County on Monday. The Bulldogs blew past the Eagles 10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Braylon Brooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nick Cubbage was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trey Guzy, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

The win got Luray back to even at 6-6. As for Clarke County, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Luray will take on Madison County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clarke County, they will square off against Berkeley Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
