Preview: Landmark Christian War Eagles vs. Callaway Cavaliers
Landmark Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Callaway Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Landmark Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Callaway will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Landmark Christian strolled past Redan with points to spare, taking the game 37-20. Given Landmark Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Redan is ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Landmark Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Melody Painter, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Nikolette Soden was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Callaway unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lanett. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Landmark Christian pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Callaway, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-2.
Things could have been worse for Landmark Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 57-39 loss to Callaway in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Landmark Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
