Basketball Recap: Hackley Triumphs

Hackley's tournament run continued when they took on Weaver on Sunday. The Hackley Hornets pulled ahead with a 50-49 photo finish over the Weaver Beavers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Hornets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 261st in New York, while the Beavers are ranked 88th in Connecticut).

Hackley has also been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Weaver, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Hackley has already played their next game (against Collegiate), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Weaver will face off against Civic Leadership at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
