Baseball Game Preview: Geneva Eagles vs. Jefferson Area Falcons

The Geneva Eagles are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the Jefferson Area Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Geneva will be strutting in after a victory while Jefferson Area will be coming in after a loss.

While Geneva's win against Lakeside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Dragons 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Andrew Oros was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryland Besco, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Area didn't have quite enough to beat Perry on Saturday and fell 5-4.

Michael Riffle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The win got Geneva back to even at 1-1. As for Jefferson Area, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Geneva came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson Area in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
